Umphrey’s McGee, Disco Biscuits, And STS9 Dominate Dominican Holidaze Day Three
Jams on the sand… what more can you ask for? Dominican Holidaze round three went off without a hitch yesterday, bringing some of the best jams to the Punta Cana shores. With Umphrey’s McGee, STS9, and The Disco Biscuits all scheduled to perform, fans were in for a triple threat of great music, and all of the bands lived up to their exciting expectations.
The music started with Umphrey’s, who got started with a sunset show. The band opened with “Higgins” and never relented, jamming out tunes like “No Diablo,” “Conduit,” and an awesome segment htat featured “Much Obliged,” ” Glory,” and “Hajimemashite” all sandwiched together. Wow!
The show ended with a Shady Horns sit-in, as Ryan Zoidis and Benny Bloom joined the fold for a rendition of “Sledgehammer.”
STS9 came up next, determined to celebrate in style. The performance marked new bassist Alana Rocklin’s 100th show with the band, and they celebrated with a huge performance on the beach. The band kept it grooving all night, opening with “Totem” and seguing in and out of their many classic songs.
Finally, it was up to the Biscuits to close things out in style at Holidaze. The band played for the third night straight, and have been spitting pure fire throughout the whole run. Once the band summoned a rainbow during their Friday night sunset show, there’s really been no going back. So many great jams!
