Prine welcomed Scott Avett, Joe Kwon and Bob Crawford to join his backing band at during his set. The guests participated in a performance of Prine’s classics “The Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness” and “That’s The Way the World Goes Round.” The guests, aided by Jim Avett, also assisted Prine on his beloved sing-along “Paradise.”

The Avett Brothers opened their first set of the event with the fittingly appropriate “At The Beach.” Their set was dotted with favorites such as “Colorshow,” “Down with the Shine,” a pairing of “Girl From Chile” and “Girl From Michigan,” “Will You Return?” and others. Covers of Jim Croce’s “Operator” and George Jones’ “The Race Is On” were also played and the set closed out with Avetts staples “The Ballad of Love and Hate,” ‘I Would Be Sad,” “Live and Die” and “Morning Song.”

The Avett Brothers At The Beach event continues today in Mexico and runs through Saturday. Additional acts on the bill include Old Crow Medicine Show, Langhorne Slim and the Law, The Head and the Heart, Shovels & Rope, Ian Felice, Jill Andrews and Jim Avett.
