My Morning Jacket Detail ‘One Big Holiday’ Concert in Mexico
My Morning Jacket have begun unveiling details about the second edition of One Big Holiday, their Mexican blowout concert scheduled for early next year. In addition to three performances by the Louisville rockers, Band of Horses – who will perform both separate electric and acoustic shows – Preservation Hall Jazz Band, War on Drugs, Dr. Dog, Dawes, Sylvan Esso and Biz Markie (as DJ) will all perform for 2,500 concertgoers at the event. The event will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, about an hour south of Cancún, between January 31st and February 4th.
“Lawd have mercy!” exclamation-point-prone My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James tells Rolling Stone. “Good Mother Mexico showed us so much love last time – we of course had to make sure that One Big Holiday happens again (and again and again)! We are all so excited to have our friends new and old, onstage and in the audience, join us for what we know will be a most relaxing, yet simultaneously exhilarating, getaway adventure! Can you imagine, being relaxed and exhilarated all at the same time? I sure bet you can! Good times await!”
One Big Holiday is an all-inclusive event, offering meals, drinks, concerts and activities as part of the ticket price. It also includes a download code for each of My Morning Jacket’s performances, and the hotel will also offer viewing parties for the Super Bowl, set to take place on the second day of the festival. Alongside their three sets, My Morning Jacket revealed plans to host a dance party during the weekend.
Tickets for the event go on sale June 27th at noon, though returning guests can order pre-sale tickets one day earlier.
