My Morning Jacket Close One Big Holiday with Old Songs, George Michael Tribute
After two shows that featured guests Danny Clinch, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Lucius, My Morning Jacket brought their One Big Holiday event to a close last night with another cover-filled, guest-laden show that saw them pay tribute to the late George Michael, dig deep into their catalog and also offer up some of their original tunes.
The set rolled on with the powerful closing combo of “Lay Low” and “Mahgeetah” before the finale encore saw the singers of Lucius once again emerge for “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2” as well as Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2” before a final message of love with Burt Bacharach’s “What the World Need Now is Love.” From there, all guests left the stage for MMJ to deliver the event’s namesake, “One Big Holiday,” to say goodbye.
Next up for MMJ is a headlining gig at Electric Forest before a one-off with Gary Clark Jr. in New York City.
