My Morning Jacket Bring Back Cancun Concert Series, One Big Holiday
For the second year in a row, My Morning Jacket are inviting fans to escape the winter freeze and warm up with some folk-fueled rock (etc.) at their very own One Big Holiday event in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The festivities run January 31 through February 4, and tickets only cost — gulp — about $1,300.
After this past year’s success with guests the Flaming Lips, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Mariachi el Bronx, and Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation, the band has scheduled another four-night offering at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun. This time, the Louisville boys are bringing with them Band of Horses, the War on Drugs, Dr. Dog, Dawes, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Sylvan Esso, and special guest DJ Biz Markie.
MMJ is onboard for three nights’ worth of full performances, too, of course. With all that jam time, chances are you’ll get some good covers. We’ve seen the band do justice by Jason Molina, Lou Reed, the Band, and Neil Young in the past year.
But what was that about tickets? They’re expensive, yes, but the $1,299 price tag includes accommodations and amenities at the resort, plus access to the concerts. And all of this, as the event site promises:
There will be a host of other activities like daily yoga classes, theme nights, off-site excursions and more. Before the show, get your friends together and dine in one of many on-site restaurants featuring ethnic cuisines or hit the pre-show BBQ. Refreshing beverages including beer, wine and liquor are served in multiple bars and lounges throughout the property and are all included in the price of admission.
Tickets go on sale beginning June 27th at 12:00pm ET at the One Big Holiday site.
