Widespread Panic’s Panic en la Playa Dos Continues
Widespread Panic’s Panic en la Playa Dos continued last night. The third night of the band’s destination event featured a mini-Band tribute consisting of “Ophelia” and “The Shape I’m In.” Both of those numbers, as well as a second-set version of “Coconut,” had not been played since 2011. The show came to a close with a powerful cover of Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home” sandwiched between “Driving Song.”
Likewise, the second night of Panic’s Panic en la Playa Dos event on Monday featured a few songs left off the acoustic Wood tour—and thus not played since 2011. Those songs included “One Kind Favor” and “Bowlegged Woman.” Nodding to the event’s tropical vibe, John Bell also sang a bit of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” during “Stop Go.”
Widespread Panic have also offered a range of activities this week. Of note, percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz led a cigar rolling class and joined in the event’s official golf tournament. Panic en la Playa Dos continues this evening.
