Greensky Bluegrass Goes ‘Dirty Dancing’ With Lindsay Lou At Strings & Sol
Earlier this month Greensky Bluegrass took part in the 7th annual Strings & Sol at Now Sapphire and Dreams Resort & Spa in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. The jamgrass act got in the spirit of the final evening’s ’80s Beach Bash theme by debuting a cover of “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” with the help of Lindsay Lou.
The Michigan-based band offered up the tune that originally appeared on the 1987 soundtrack for Dirty Dancing to help close out their set. Earlier in the evening the five-piece worked their way through takes on fan-favorites like “Burn Them,” “Blood Sucking F(r)iends,” “Worried About The Weather” and a jam-filled run that saw them alternate between “Tarpology” and “One Slip.” The band also teamed up with Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt for a take on Jimmy Buffett’s “A Pirate At 40.” The quintet dropped the Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes duet in the middle of a set-closing take on “Don’t Lie.” Mandolinist Paul Hoffman and Lou handled the vocals on the Oscar-winning song.
